No Account Required: BookHive operates completely locally on your device. We do not require registration, usernames, email addresses, passwords, or any other personal identifier to read books.
1. Information We Collect
While the App stores your reading progress, statistics, and books locally on your device, we utilize third-party SDKs that automatically collect certain non-personally identifiable telemetry and technical data to facilitate advertisements and app analytics.
A. Automatically Collected Analytics & Diagnostics
Through Google Firebase Analytics, we collect anonymous usage telemetry, including:
- App Interactions: Button clicks, screen views, settings toggles, reading session durations, and events (e.g., when a book is successfully opened or marked completed).
- In-App Search Queries: The titles or topics you type in the search bar. This metadata helps us optimize catalog retrieval.
- App Diagnostics & Performance: Crash logs, freeze rates, and battery usage metrics.
B. Advertising & Device Identifiers
Through Google AdMob, we collect and share technical identifiers to deliver and measure advertisements, including:
- Device & Ad Identifiers: Your device's Mobile Advertising ID (e.g., Google Advertising ID or GAID) and Firebase Instance ID.
- Approximate Location: Coarse geolocation data derived from your IP address, used solely to show relevant local advertisements.

We process the collected data for the following legitimate purposes:
- To monitor and maintain app stability: Using crash logs and diagnostics to troubleshoot performance issues.
- To analyze user engagement: Using aggregated analytics to understand which features are popular and how reading statistics are used.
- To serve advertisements: To present banner, native, and rewarded video ads that support the free tier of the App.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share collected technical data (such as Advertising IDs and approximate location) with Google AdMob and its advertising partners for ad customization, capping, and attribution purposes.

- Encryption in Transit: All telemetry and advertising data transmitted off your device to Google servers is encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) / HTTPS protocols.
- Local Retention: Your reading habits, bookmark states, downloaded HTML book files, and offline storage are stored locally on your device's sandbox. Uninstalling the App immediately deletes all local data.

Our App is safe for general audiences but does not knowingly collect or request personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us, and we will take immediate steps to delete it.
7. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your region, you may have rights regarding your data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Opt-Out of Personalized Ads: You can disable interest-based ads on your Android device by navigating to Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization (or resetting your Advertising ID).
- Access and Deletion: Because we do not link data to personal identifiers (such as email or phone numbers), we cannot lookup or delete your anonymous telemetry on request. However, you can instantly clear all local data by uninstalling the App.
